You can use multiple methods simultaneously for different employee groups or locations.

System Setup

1Hardware & Software Installation

  1. Download and install the fingerprint reader driver from manufacturer's website
  2. Install the latest version of BMO HRM System Software
  3. Connect the fingerprint reader to the attendance system computer
  4. Configure network settings for multi-device synchronization

Ensure your computer meets minimum system requirements: Windows 10/11, 4GB RAM, 500MB free disk space.

2Employee Registration & Enrollment

  1. Launch and login to the BMO Attendance application
  2. Employee details will sync automatically from HR database
  3. Register fingerprints on the tablet (2 fingerprints per employee recommended)
  4. Take employee photo for facial recognition (if applicable)
  5. Assign access cards or QR codes (if using those methods)

Important: Uncheck magnetic and fingerprint scanner in settings for new enrollments to avoid conflicts.

For best results, clean fingerprint scanner regularly and ensure fingers are dry during enrollment.

3Mobile App Configuration

  1. Download BMO HRM mobile app from App Store or Google Play
  2. Enable location services for GPS attendance tracking
  3. Configure camera access for photo attendance
  4. Set up push notifications for attendance reminders
  5. Test attendance submission from mobile device

Mobile app supports attendance via GPS location, photo verification, and manual time entry with supervisor approval.

Attendance Configuration

Create and define rules for each attendance type:

  1. Go to Employee > Attendance > Attendance Type
  2. Set rules like "fault if later" for check-in (e.g., after 9:15 AM)
  3. Set rules like "fault if earlier" for check-out (e.g., before 5:45 PM)
  4. Configure grace periods (e.g., 15 minutes grace for late arrival)
  5. Define overtime calculation rules
  6. Save each attendance type configuration

You can create different attendance types for different shifts: Morning Shift, Night Shift, Part-time, Flexible Hours, etc.

Creating Shifts:
  1. Go to Employee > Attendance > Shift Management
  2. Create shift patterns (e.g., Regular 9-6, Shift A, Shift B)
  3. Define working days and hours
  4. Set break times and durations
  5. Configure shift rotations if applicable
Assigning Shifts:
  1. Assign shifts to individual employees
  2. Or assign to employee groups/departments
  3. Set effective dates for shift assignments
  4. Configure shift change notifications

You can create complex shift patterns including rotating shifts, split shifts, and compressed work weeks.

Configure holidays and integrate with e-Leave system:

  1. Go to HR > Holiday Setting
  2. Add public holidays (national, state, company-specific)
  3. Set recurring holidays annually
  4. Configure leave types that affect attendance
  5. Set up auto-deduction for unpaid leave

Attendance system automatically excludes approved leave days and public holidays from attendance calculations.
